2 great new products to try
I've discovered two new products that are delicious. The first one is from Ore Ida. Their new Steam N Mash potaotes are great. Quick and easy to prepare, and they taste just like you made them from scratch. All the peeling and chopping has been done for you, you simply put the bag in the microwave and steam for about 10 minutes. Once done, you mash them as you like them, with milk, butter, salt & pepper, however you make mashed potatoes.
The second great product I discovered are the new Mini Delights from Quaker. These are little mini rice cakes with big flavor. I especially love the chocolatey mint ones, they taste just like those mint chocolate cookies but without all the fat and calories. And with only 90 calories a bag, that's much better then those 100 calorie snacks on the market. Plus I think you get more in the bag then with thos 100 calorie packs. Give both products a try and let me know what you think.

Diet Tip
Let's face it, it's not easy trying to lose weight. A nibble here a nibble there, and before you know it the scale goes up. There are so many diets on the market today it's hard to know which ones really work. Plus, everyone's body and metabolism are different so what works for one person may not work for someone else. There are a few good websites out there that give good diet tips:
Slimfast.com
Sparkpeople.com
Weightwatchers.com
Just to name a few. We know we should eat better. But that doesn't mean we have to give up the foods we love. Moderation is key. Also if you make small changes you will see big results. Just because foods are "low calorie", "light" or "sugar free" does not mean you can eat twice as much. However switching to these types of food can help. One thing I really like is the spray butters. They taste just like melted butter, yet they have no calories, fat or anything else. Use just like regular butter or margarine on baked potatoes, vegetables, even toast.
Don't be too quick to use artifical sweeteners. Sugar, honey, and agave nectar are much better for your body then the other stuff. Even diet sodas aren't good for you. They just fill you up with empty calories. Instead treat yourself to the real deal once in a while, remember moderation is key.

Over Ripe Produce
How frustrating it is to buy fruits and veggies especially when they're on sale, get them home, then a few days later they spoil. Bananas especially rippen quickly. But don't throw them away. When they get brown spots on they and they're slightly soft, they're actually really sweet. Mash them up and put them in your favorite recipes, or make banana bread or banana muffins. Bananas freeze well, so if you have a bunch (pun intended) freeze em. Apples with bruises? Don't despare, simply cut off that part, the rest of the fruit is still good. If your favorite fruit or vegetable is on sale, stock up, just freeze what you can't use right away.
Cheese gone bad? Well if it's a block of hard cheese, you can cut off the bad part, the rest is still safe to eat. Food is just too dang exepensive to throw away. Another good thing to have is a foodsaver vacuum sealer. These are great when you buy foods in bulk and want to keep what you can't use right away fresh.

Mop And Bucket
How many people are still using the old mop & bucket? I used to. I even tried those new things they got out there such as the Swiffer Wet Jet, but I have found something much better. It's steam. Cleaning with the power of steam is fast, safe, effective and most of all money saving. No more buying bottles of cleaners, that although may smell really good (I really like the Orange scented ones), they cost money, take up room in your cabinets, and they can't be good for the enviorment either. So I bought a Shark Steamer. I love it. It does an excellent job of cleaning everything around the house, all with the power of tap water. The machine I bought comes with many different attachments, I love the mop best. No more mop & bucket. There are other steam mops out there not just the one I got. So if you're looking for an effective, safe way to clean your whole house, try steam cleaning.
Clip those coupons
How many people use coupons these days? You can find them everywhere. They're online, in magazines, newspapers, even on the products themselves. I love the fact that I can print my own. Many people think that it's just not worth the time to fool with coupons. Not so! Why pay full price if you don't have to. Even a .25 cent coupon is better then nothing. With the price of groceries so high these days it does really pay to use coupons. If anyone out there would like to start a coupon exchange please email me.
