How frustrating it is to buy fruits and veggies especially when they're on sale, get them home, then a few days later they spoil. Bananas especially rippen quickly. But don't throw them away. When they get brown spots on they and they're slightly soft, they're actually really sweet. Mash them up and put them in your favorite recipes, or make banana bread or banana muffins. Bananas freeze well, so if you have a bunch (pun intended) freeze em. Apples with bruises? Don't despare, simply cut off that part, the rest of the fruit is still good. If your favorite fruit or vegetable is on sale, stock up, just freeze what you can't use right away.
Cheese gone bad? Well if it's a block of hard cheese, you can cut off the bad part, the rest is still safe to eat. Food is just too dang exepensive to throw away. Another good thing to have is a foodsaver vacuum sealer. These are great when you buy foods in bulk and want to keep what you can't use right away fresh.
